GMC Typhoons were 4.3L v6 turbocharged, all-wheel drive SUVs produced from 1992 to 1993. Only 4,697 were EVER MADE!
Radar Blue was (one of many) rare color combinations released for 1992 and 1993 with only 1 produced for each year. The '93 is no longer running, so this is the ONLY one left in this colorway.
This gorgeous chameleon-painted Typhoon has sat under boxes and newspapers for the last 30 YEARS!
I had the honor of prepping, polishing, waxing, and detailing the Typhoon before a big truck show in Carlisle, PA.
This was no easy task, as 30 years of neglect on OEM paint is what some detailers have nightmares about. Not to mention the pressure, of this being the ONLY one in the world.
I measured each body panel with a coating thickness gauge, and there was enough "meat" there for me to be able to provide my service.
So, I got to work!
Strip Wash, Iron Removal, Clay Bar, & Hand Dry.
I then did a two-step style correction, where I went in with a cutting pad and compound, followed it up with a polishing compound. Lastly, I sealed it in with a Ceramic Wax that will last and keep this OEM paint protected.
This process took me a total of 9 hours, but it was well worth the results that show via these photos.

This Typhoon was on display at Carlisle Truck Nationals.
It was featured in GM EFI Magazine, and you can find their video of it SHINING in the sun where it was parked.
Here is a link to see just how beautiful this thing came out:
I am so VERY grateful to have been able to bring this Typhoon back to its original shine and to preserve it. Definitely one of coolest jobs I have done thus far!
